Walter C. Gisselbrecht

Goshen- Walter C. Gisselbrecht, 76, died Saturday, November 19, 2016 in his home, surrounded by family and friends. He was the beloved husband of the late Dorothy (Broege) Gisselbrecht.

        Mr. Gisselbrecht was born in Torrington on June 18, 1940, son of the late Walter G. and Evelyn (Brenker) Gisselbrecht, and had been a lifelong area resident. He was a U.S. Army Vietnam Era veteran and was a retired store manager with Patterson Oil Co., retiring with 20 years of service. Mr. Gisselbrecht was a lifelong member of Trinity Episcopal Church, where he had served as an acolyte. Walter was a member of the Seneca Masonic Lodge #55 AF & AM, active at the Sullivan Senior Center, and was a Corporator of The Maria Seymour Brooker Memorial, Torrington.

        Survivors include a daughter, Lisa Ferris and her significant other, Lance Leifert of Goshen; a sister, Ann Amicone of Torrington; four grandchildren, Devon and Zachary Ferris and Katey and Matthew Leifert; a devoted friend, Barbara Brun of Bantam; a special niece, Cheryl Burke; and a special nephew, Kenny Nardine and his wife Jessica. Mr. Gisselbrecht was predeceased by a granddaughter, Brianna Hope Ferris.

        Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at 10:00a.m. from Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, 258 Prospect St., Torrington, to Trinity Episcopal Church, 220 Prospect St., Torrington, for a service at 11:00a.m. Burial with full military honors will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Torrington. Friends may call Tuesday, November 22, 2016 from 5:00 to 8:00p.m. at Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home.

        At the request of the family, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Center for Cancer Care, 200 Kennedy Dr., Torrington, CT 06790.
