Hi Jimmy,
Sorry this is so late but I was so sad to hear about your mom passing away. I remember your mom from Stars and from all the times were spent up your house. It seems like such a long time ago! I can hear her voice in my head as I am typing this and looking at her photo. God is with her right now and when it's our time to go we will see her again. I'm so sorry for you and your brothers loss.

You asked about my family. Mom is 88 and she has bad knees. Bone on bone but at 88 she is afraid to get surgery. She's in pain a lot but she has pain patches and pain gel. Dad is 91and spent a week in the hospital last week. He got down to 90 lbs. and coughed when he ate. Turns out his food wasn't going down the right way, it was going off to either the right or left, I forget which side. The doctors didn't think he would live and we should get hospice in. We wanted him to get a swallow test but his doctor didn't think he would survive. Not only did he survive, he now has a feeding tube. He spent 3 months in a nursing home up the street until they said he could come home. He got physical and speech therapy. He can now eat some food but he won't do his exercises everyday. He does them when he feels like it. They said he would never eat and he does. If he would do his throat exercises every day he could get rid of the feeding tube. He now weighs 124 which is amazing. God has been so good to all of us. I am so blessed. Both of my parents have outlived both of their parents by a
lot of years. I always feel guilty when friends of mine have lost both parents and I have both of mine. I hope you are doing well. I work for Head Start as a sub but I'm not called to work much. I am a caregiver at home. I wish I could get paid for it. I also make jewelry, rubber stamp on clothing, greeting cards, pillow cases, dish towels, book marks and purses and I embroider on baby bibs. Kathie has a web site called the proudpeacock and she has a booth at The Big E. Kathie lives in Canton. Cheryl has 2 kids and is divorced. She works at The Community Center in Litchfield and lives in Litchfield.

Gail: thanks for filling me in on your family's status. I am glad to hear that you still enjoy time with both of your parents. Don't feel guilty about that at all ! Cherish every moment you have with them and give them a hug from me. Do you ever hear from Linda Coffey? I think of you and her often with fond memories of our times at THS and around Torrington when we were just kids! Good luck with all your creative ventures and thanks again so much, Jimmy

You know, it's funny that you ask me about Linda. You would think in a town of our size I would see her more but I don't. Let me explain what I mean. She still lived in Torrington but both of her parents passed on too. She met a guy from England and they got married! She moved to England and lived there for about 2 years and they got divorced. I guess he passed himself off as something he wasn't but she tried to make a go of it and couldn't. She moved back to Torrington where I saw her at a street fair in downtown. She bought a tee shirt from me, we talked for a while and I never saw her again. Here is the really odd part and just goes to show what a small world it really is. When I worked at Caldor's I became best friends with a girl named Dawn. We had so much fun shopping and going to the movies. Guess who she is related to? Linda! Linda was her cousin! So I was Linda's BFF and then I became Dawn's BF. She was about 10 years younger then me but we liked the same things and had a ball together too. We aren't friends any longer because she wanted to find some friends her own age to hang around with (go figure, huh) but she works at JC Penny's so we see each other sometimes. "It's a small world after all, it's a small, small world."LOL

Jimmy, David, Joel & Michael,

As I reflect upon your mother (my Godmother) in my life, I smile for all the joy we shared together. She always went out of her way to send a card for every important event in my life. My Godmother, who I called Auntie Ann, was always magical to me. When I was little I would look through my parents wedding album, seeing your mother (my mother’s Maid of Honor) in that beautiful fairy tale dress she just had to be a real fairy princess - because she always made me feel so special every time I was with her. You see……

I know my Auntie Ann had no wands or wings.
She worked with wisdom, love and things.
Having taken on the role of Godmother,
I felt she loved me to my soul.

She offered kindness,
And greetings with a hug and kiss,
Each freely out of love,
Which, I will truly miss.

I chose a twinkling star in the sky last night,
To say a prayer for her, to its bright light,
She is in God’s Heavens now and no longer in pain.
In my thoughts she will always remain.

How lucky I was,
How blessed I’ve been,
She was more than my Godmother,
She also was my mother’s very best friend.

My condolences to all of you,
Auntie Ann’s Godchild,
Cherylann Stewart

Thank you for your condolences and for the beautiful poem. It brought tears to my eyes. My Mom had such a special place in her heart for you, your parents and your sister and brother. She always looked so happy when she was visiting with your Mom and Dad - a sign of the truly special friendship they shared for so many years.

Dear Cheryl Ann:
what a beautiful tribute to our Mom and your Godmother! I echo my brother Mike's thoughts : thank you so much for your kind words and great memories of her. You know that she loved you very much (like the daughter she never had !) and she loved your Mom Lorraine very much too. We were very touched to see your Dad and sister at the Wake and Funeral on Saturday, it meant so much to have them there and we know you were there in heart and spirit too. Thanks again so much, Cheryl Ann. love from Jim and all the Perlotto family
