Alice (Tursics) Karvajszky

Torrington- Alice Karvajszky, 94, died Sunday, November 6, 2016 at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital, Torrington. She was the beloved wife of the late Frank Karvajszky.

        Mrs. Karvajszky was born in Gyor, Hungary on January 24, 1922, daughter of the late Joseph and Rosalia (Szemethy) Tursics. Along with her husband and children, she bravely left Hungary in 1957 during the revolution and immigrated to the U.S. in 1959, settling in Torrington. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting, watching soccer and movies on TV, but most of all, spending time with her family.

        Mrs. Karvajszky is survived by her two daughters, Alice Muik and her husband Frank, and Doris Blanchette, all of which reside in Torrington; five grandchildren, Elizabeth Moise and her husband Theodore, Erika Oliphant and her husband Jeff, Susan Muik and her husband Mark Malo, Melissa Muik and her husband Ryan Rubin, and Aiden Blanchette; four great-grandchildren, Aubri Oliphant, Elias Oliphant, Emily Moise, and Sydney Moise, and several nieces and nephews in Hungary.

        Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 19, 2016 at 10:00a.m. at Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, 258 Prospect St., Torrington. Burial will follow in New St. Francis Cemetery, Torrington.

        At the request of the family, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
