John W. Hart, Sr.

Torrington- John W. Hart, Sr., 76, died Friday, June 17, 2016 at Cherry Brook Health Care Center, Canton. He was the beloved husband of Mary M. (Leonard) Hart.

        Mr. Hart was born in Torrington on May 25, 1940, son of the late Walter W. Hart Sr., and Lydia (Teichert) Hart, and had been a lifelong area resident. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and a retired Direct Care Aide at the State of Connecticut Department of Developmental Services. John was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, an avid Patriots and Red Sox fan, enjoyed fishing, hunting, and racing cars in his younger years.

        Survivors, in addition to his wife Mary, include two sons, John W. Hart, Jr., and his wife Janet of Mt. Juliet, TN, and Shawn M. Hart of Enfield, three daughters, Jacqueline A. Emerson and her fiancée Nathan, Sara L. Hart and her fiancée James, all of Torrington, and Christine M. Hart and her fiancée Clifton of Berlin, two brothers, Robert Hart and his wife Betty, and David Hart, Sr., and his wife Maureen, a sister-in-law, Patricia Hart, all of Torrington, two grandchildren, Kenneth L. Emerson and Crystal L. Emerson, and two great-grandchildren, Noah J. Strahan and Lillian A. Emerson. John was predeceased by a sister, Connie Kopf, and a brother, Walter W. Hart, Jr.

        Services will be held Saturday, June 25, 2016 at 11:00a.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church, 220 Prospect St., Torrington. Burial with full Military Honors will follow in Trinity Episcopal Church Memorial Garden. Friends may call Friday, June 24 from 5:00 to 7:00p.m. at Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, 258 Prospect St., Torrington.
