Torrington- Stanley A. Zega, 92, died Thursday, January 28, 2016 at Valerie Manor, Torrington. He was the beloved husband of the late Anna (DiBenedetto) Zega, who he now joins in heaven.
Mr. Zega was born in Winsted on July 14, 1923, son of the late Anthony and Caroline (Wozniak) Zega, and had been a lifelong area resident. He was a WWII U.S. Army Veteran, an avid golfer, fisherman, and enjoyed tinkering. Stanley was formerly a member of the Brotherhood of Painters, Wall Paperers and Decorators, and was later employed by the Torrington Board of Education until his retirement in 1988.
Survivors include a daughter, Denice McGrane and her husband John of Farmington, several nieces and nephews, but most importantly by his beloved granddaughter Calley McGraneof Litchfield.
Graveside services will be held Friday, February 5, 2016 at 2:00p.m. at New St. Francis Cemetery, 863 S. Main St., Torrington. Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, 258 Prospect St., Torrington, is in care of arrangements.
