Vanessa Copija Obituary

Torrington- Vanessa R. Copija, 65, passed away Saturday, May 9, 2020 at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital, Torrington, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Vanessa was born in Torrington on August 2, 1954, daughter of the late George D. Percy, Jr., and Diane M. (Emanuel) Percy, and had been a Torrington resident most of her life. She was a proud U.S. Navy Veteran. Vanessa was a former member of the Torrington Democratic Town Committee, enjoyed gardening, cooking, and was an avid reader.

Survivors include a son, Joseph K. Copija of Torrington; a daughter, Melanie J. Copija and her fiancé Michael Rougeot of Torrington; three brothers, George D. Percy, III, of Oxnard, CA, Karl E. Percy of Richmond, VA, and Jonathan M. Percy of Torrington; a sister, Pamela R. Perry and her husband Michael of Windsor; three grandchildren, Dylan Copija, Ryder Copija, and Gabriella Bullard; former husband and friend, Kenneth Copija; of Torrington; and many nieces and nephews.

Services and burial will be held on a date and time to be announced. Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, Torrington, is in care of arrangements.
