Torrington- Philip “Phil” N. Salamacha, 63, passed away Sunday, October 11, 2020 at Hartford Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Susan M. (Zucco) Salamacha.
Phil was born in Waterbury on July 23, 1957, son of Nancy (Neil) Salamacha of Norfolk and the late Bronislaw Salamacha, and had been a lifelong Torrington resident. Phil’s greatest joy was his family and his home. He worked as a Master Mechanic for over 30 years, most recently with Carby Corporation in Watertown and also with United Technologies in Windsor Locks for 14 years. Phil was an excellent cook, and enjoyed traveling, especially family trips to Sedona, AZ, the Grand Canyon and Bar Harbor, ME. He had an uncanny ability to fix anything, from large industrial equipment to his John Deere lawn tractor he kept for over 30 years. He was amazed when he was surprised with a new one for his birthday this past summer.
Survivors, in addition to his wife and mother, include a son, Eric M. Salamacha; a daughter, Nicole M. Salamacha, both of Torrington; a brother, David Salamacha of Torrington; two sisters, Marianne Picard and her husband Mark of Harwinton and Aniela Salamacha of Colebrook; a step-sister, Tabitha Krosi of SC; and many nieces and nephews. Phil was predeceased by a brother, John Salamacha.
