Torrington- Nicholas J. Romaniello, Sr., 93, passed away Thursday, July 1, 2021, at his home. He was the beloved husband of 64 years of the late Mary A. (Gardner) Romaniello.
Mr. Romaniello was born in Torrington on April 17, 1928, son of the late Daniel and Carmela (Romano) Romaniello, and had been a lifelong city resident. He was a WWII U.S. Army Veteran and a retired Lieutenant with the Torrington Police Department, retiring with 25 years of service. Mr. Romaniello was a communicant of St. Peter Church of St. John Paul the Great Parish, Torrington. He enjoyed visiting Lourdes Shrine in Litchfield, watching old movies, and listening to music. Mr. Romaniello was an avid sports fan, he especially enjoyed watching UCONN Women’s Basketball and the NY Yankees.
Survivors include his four children, Donata Reeve and her husband, Peter, of Burlington, Gloria Milo and her husband, Buddy, of Torrington, Nicholas Romaniello, Jr., and his wife, Valerie, of Sarasota, FL, and Nancy Beck of Burlington; a brother, Vincent Romaniello of Egg Harbor City, NJ; nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and his former son-in-law, Richard Beck, Jr. Mr. Romaniello was predeceased by one brother and three sisters.
A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, July 9, 2021 at 11:00a.m. at St. Peter Church, 107 E. Main St., Torrington. Entombment with full Military Honors will follow in St. Peter Mausoleum, Torrington. Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, 258 Prospect St., Torrington, is in care of arrangements.
