Margaret A. (DiMauro) Barredo

Torrington- Margaret A. Barredo, 93, peacefully passed away Friday, June 11, 2021, at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital, Torrington. She was the beloved wife of the late Anthony “Tony” Barredo.

        Margaret was born in Winsted on September 4, 1927, daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Avampoto) DiMauro, and had been a lifelong Torrington-Winsted area resident. Margaret and her late husband, Tony, owned a Victorian mansion in Winsted for several years, renting many of the rooms to college students. They also opened an antique shop on East Main St. in Torrington, where many people enjoyed viewing the coins and antiques that they had for sale. In her later years, Margaret loved to dance and play cards with family and friends. She was a communicant of St. John Paul the Great Parish, Torrington.

        She is survived by her sister, Rose Moscaritolo of Torrington; her brother, Joseph DiMauro and his wife, Dorothy, of Litchfield; and several nieces and nephews. Margaret was predeceased by two brothers, Sebastian DiMauro and Samuel DiMauro, and a sister, Carmella Lopardo.

        Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 16, 2021, at 11:00a.m. at Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, 258 Prospect St., Torrington. Burial will follow in New St. Francis Cemetery, Torrington. Friends may call Tuesday, June 15, 2021, from 5:00 to 7:00p.m. at Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home.
