Joseph W. Gutowski

Torrington- Joseph W. Gutowski, 94, passed away Sunday, July 11, 2021, at his home. He was the husband of 72 years of Jean B. (Karlowicz) Gutowski.

        Mr. Gutowski was born in Torrington on May 7, 1927, son of the late Frank and Florence (Arnista) Gutowski, and had been a lifelong Torrington area resident. He was a WWII U.S. Navy Veteran whose awards and decorations include the American Theatre Medal and Victory Medal. Mr. Gutowski was a retired builder and carpenter with Gutowski Brothers Builders. He was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church of St. John Paul the Great Parish, Torrington. Mr. Gutowski was a member of the Torrington Lodge of Elks, Sullivan Senior Center, and enjoyed Polka dancing.

        Survivors, in addition to his wife, Jean, include a son, Gary H. Gutowski and his wife, Debbie Videtto Gutowski, of St. Augustine, FL; a daughter, Susan M. Partelow and her husband, Paul, of New Milford; five grandchildren, Aaron Videtto and his wife, Sara, Michael Gutowski, Kristin Reed and her husband, Marcellus, Ryan Partelow and his wife, Emily, and Lindsey Partelow; three great-grandchildren, Sophia Gutowski, Dominic Videtto, and Daniel Videtto; two brothers, Charles Gutowski of Litchfield and Stanley Gutowski and his wife, Barbara, of Millville, NJ; a sister, Frances Gutowski of Northfield; and many nieces and nephews.

        A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, July 27, 2021 at 11:00a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 160 Main St., Torrington. Burial will be private. There are no calling hours. Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, 258 Prospect St., Torrington, is in care of arrangements.
