Torrington- John M. LaGamba, 89, passed away Monday, April 12, 2021 at his Assisted Living home. He was the beloved husband of the late Madeline T. (Barufaldi) LaGamba.
Mr. LaGamba was born in Winsted on August 10, 1931, son of the late Michael and Domenica “Mary” (Russo) LaGamba, and had been a Torrington resident most of his life. He was a retired machinist with the Sterling Engineering Company, retiring with over 50 years of service. In his spare time, John enjoyed working on cars, taking care of his home, and gardening in the backyard. He especially enjoyed watching his granddaughter dance and grandson play hockey, they were the light of his life. John enjoyed travelling with his late wife, Madeline. The two often found themselves on Kelly Co. bus excursions, going here and there.
Survivors include a daughter, Michele T. Swanson and her husband, Brian, of Rocky Hill; two grandchildren, Jordan Swanson and Noah Swanson, both of Rocky Hill; a sister-in-law, Elizabeth “Betty” LaGamba of Torrington; special nieces and nephews, Susan LaGamba, Diane LaGamba, Mark Zukowski, and Nicholas LaGamba, Jr.; and several other nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 17, 2021 at 9:00a.m. from Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, 258 Prospect St., Torrington, to Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 78 Litchfield Rd., Harwinton, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00a.m. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery, Torrington. Friends may call Friday, April 16, 2021 from 6:00 to 8:00p.m. at Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home.
Mr. LaGamba was a lifelong protector of animals, so in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Simon Foundation, 120 Rescue La., Bloomfield, CT 06002. This is an animal rescue and adoption center for animals in need.
