Arnold W. Staire

Arnold W. Staire, age 84 died, March 11, 2026 at Valarie ManorNursing Home in Torrington, CT. He was the beloved husband of the late Frances A. (Beechinor) Staire formerly of 375 Torringford West Street, Torrington, CT.  Born on September 19, 1941 in Winsted, CT to the late Walter C & Louise (Gauger) Staire.  He attended local schools and graduated from Torrington High School in 1959.

Mr. Staire was previously employed by Morse Shoe Inc. andwent on to manage the shoe departments at Nu-Stars in Torrington, Two Guys, and K-Mart stores in Waterbury before opening Favya Shoes in Torrington in March of 1980.  He also worked in sales at Torrington Winnelson Company.

Mr. Staire was an amateur radio operator with the call sign “N1BXB” and was a member of the HQ radio club.  His hobbies included gardening, refinishing furniture and participated in the skeet shooting at Torrington Fish & Game Club.  He is also wasa member of the Torrington Gun Club

Arnold was predeceased by his wife, Frances and his brother Clifford.  He is survived by his brother Peter & wife Kathy of Norfolk, MA, and nephew & godson Zachary Walter of Bellingham, MA.  Niece Amy Fernandez, husband David & grandnephew David Vaughan of Tomball, TX; Sister-in-Law Cynthia Staire of Tomball, TX. He also leaves many cousins.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, March 19 2026 at the Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, 258 Prospect St., Torrington, starting at 10 a.m. followed by a service at 11 a.m. concluding with a burial at St. Francis New Cemetery.
