Torrington- Alan “Aldo” J. Koplar, 60, passed away Saturday, September 4, 2021 at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital, Torrington.
Alan was born in Torrington on July 11, 1961, son of Anna B. (Killiany) Koplar of Torrington and the late Stephen W. Koplar, and had been a lifelong city resident. He had been employed with Torrington Metal Products for over 25 years, and worked as a carpenter. Alan was a communicant of the former St. Mary’s Church, Torrington, and a graduate of St. Mary’s School. He enjoyed woodworking, metalworking, and fishing.
Survivors, in addition to his mother, Anna, include a brother, James S. Koplar and his wife, Cathy, of Canton; three sisters, Susan A. Walls and her husband, John, of Berlin, MD, Joan M. White, and Barbara J. Channels and her husband, Thomas, all of Torrington; an Aunt, Joanna J. Arnista of Torrington; his close friend, Barry Fox of Torrington; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Alan was predeceased by his sister, Kathleen M. Mabe, and Brother-in-law Mitchell J. White.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, September 13, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 160 Main St., Torrington. Burial will follow in New St. Francis Cemetery, Torrington. Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, 258 Prospect St., Torrington, is in care of arrangements.
