Torrington- Zelda L. Michaels, 95, passed away Saturday, August 4, 2018 in her home. She was the beloved wife of the late Irving “Mike” Michaels, Jr.
Mrs. Michaels was born in Tecumseh, NE, on February 2, 1923, daughter of the late William and Louise (Banta) Mason, and had been a Torrington resident since 1989. She was a member of the Catherine Lorilard Wolfe Art Society in New York, and had received several awards for her art sculpture. Zelda enjoyed traveling and gardening.
Survivors include two sons, Mickey Michaels of Leggett, CA, and Mark Michaels and his wife Rose of Monroe; a sister, Shirley Claiborn and her husband Ed of Utah; seven grandchildren, Brittany Michaels, Lindsay Gorski and her husband Dan, Melissa Michaels, Joshua Michaels, Heather Furbush, Kesha Michaels, and Stephanie Michaels; and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Michaels was predeceased by a son, Paul Michaels.
Services will be held Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at 7:00p.m. at Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, 258 Prospect St., Torrington. Burial will be private. Friends may call Wednesday from 5:00p.m. until the time of service.
