Torrington- Wallace L. Nawalaniec, 78, passed away Saturday, December 8, 2018 at home.
Wallace was born in Torrington on October 30, 1940, son of the late Walter and Margaret (Michna) Nawalaniec, and had been a lifelong city resident. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran and was a retired hairdresser, having graduated from the Connecticut School of Hairdressing; he owned hair salons in Hartford and Avon. Wallace was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church and a graduate of Sacred Heart School, Torrington.
Wallace was a frequent visitor to Mohegan Sun Casino where he met many friends and loved eating at Johnny Rocket’s. Growing tomatoes for homemade sauce in season and cooking for himself and others was his favorite pastime, with a glass of red wine. A funny, quirky guy with a dry sense of humor, we will all miss Wally’s laid-back attitude. A deeply philosophical person, Wally underlined and read the works of Krishnamurti regularly. Wally was a cat lover forever and leaves his two feline pals, Moaner and Blondie, who will miss him terribly.
Survivors include a sister, Judith Farris and her husband David of Manchester; a niece, Nicole Goulet; and two nephews, Robert Goulet and Jason Goulet (Roxan). Survivors also include new-found relatives, Candy Lent of New York and David Russ of Florida.
Services will be private.
Memorial contributions may be made to a feline charity of the donor's choice.
