Mary Lou (Owen) Baird

Torrington- Mary Lou Baird, 77, passed away Wednesday, October 2, 2019 in her home.

          Mrs. Baird was born in New Milford on August 9, 1942, daughter of the late Earle and Myrtle (Barley) Owen, and had been a Torrington resident for the past 45 years. She was a retired employee with Alcoa-Howmet, retiring in 2004 with 16 years of service. Mary Lou was devoted to her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed family celebrations, playing cards, and for the adventurous rides she had taken with her children.

          Survivors include a son, Wayne Baird and his wife Lisa Gioffre-Baird of Wilton; two daughters, Tina Chase and Ruby Baird and her boyfriend Ken Spear, all of Torrington; a sister, Martha Leach of Torrington; eight grandchildren, Vanessa Valentin, Ched Chase, Cameron Chase, Sheila Pease, Matthew Baird, Kelly Baird, Daniel Baird, and Katie Baird; five great-grandchildren, Jose Valentin, Destiny Valentin, Mya Valentin, Iris Chase, and Benjamin Chase; her sister-in-law and best friend of 67 years, Anita Baird of Sharon; and several nieces and nephews. Mary Lou was predeceased by her daughter, Dawn Baird, and a granddaughter, Jessica Pease.

          A Prayer Service will be held Wednesday, October 9, 2019 at 7:00p.m. at Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, 258 Prospect St., Torrington. Burial will be private. Friends may call Wednesday evening from 5:00 to 7:00p.m. at Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home.
