Torrington- Marianna Bakula, 79, passed away Thursday, November 8, 2018 at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital, Torrington. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph Bakula.
Mrs. Bakula was born in Wydmusy, Poland on January 9, 1939, daughter of the late Franciszek and Marianna (Dykty) Brozska, and had been a Torrington resident since 1962. She was a retired bearing inspector with the Torrington Company, retiring with 30 years of service. She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church, Torrington, for many years. Mrs. Bakula enjoyed sewing, cooking, gardening, and most importantly, spending time with her family.
Survivors include five sons, Joseph Bakula and his wife Cathy of Crossville, TN, John Bakula of New Britain, Stanley Bakula and his wife Debra of Torrington, Mark Bakula and his wife Sandy of Torrington, and Christopher Bakula and his wife Kristen of New Hartford; two daughters, Theresa Bakula of Goshen and Susan Allen and her husband Christopher of Castalian Springs, TN; a brother, Walter Brozska of Poland; a sister, Teresa Ceberek of New Britain; 11 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Bakula was predeceased by a son, Richard Bakula.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at 12:30p.m. from Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, 258 Prospect St., Torrington, to St. Francis of Assisi Church, 160 Main St., Torrington, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 1:30p.m. Burial will follow in New St. Francis Cemetery, Torrington. Friends may call Monday, November 12, 2018 from 5:00 to 7:00p.m. at Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home.
