Margaret M. “Peggy” Richard, 69, passed away Monday, October 15, 2018 at Georgetown University Hospital, Washington, D.C - 4 days shy of her 70th birthday.
Peggy was born in Waterbury on October 19, 1948, daughter of the late John and Shirley (Biernacki) Murack. Peggy was a longtime member of St. Francis parish in Torrington and served on behalf of charities like Catholic Family Services and Two Hearts Pregnancy Center. She spent her earlier years in the theater, providing many lighting designs for the Warner. Peggy retired as a librarian at Wilby High in Waterbury. She loved the Cape, the mountains, cross-country skiing at White Memorial, and cross-country train rides. Peggy treasured her friends at the West Hill Beach Club, Wisdom House, Pilates, Scripture Discussion Group and elsewhere.
Survivors include a son, Stephen D. Richard and his wife Ellen of Arlington, VA; a sister, Jane Murack of Mansfield; and four grandchildren, Katherine Richard, John Richard, Susanna Richard, and Emma Richard. Funeral services will be held Monday, October 29, 2018 at 9:30a.m. from Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, 258 Prospect St., Torrington, to St. Francis of Assisi Church, 160 Main St., Torrington, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30a.m. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery, Torrington. Friends may call Sunday, October 28, 2018 from 4:00 to 6:00p.m. at Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home.
