Torrington- Joyce D. Sikora, 80, passed away Saturday, December 8, 2018 at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital, Torrington. She was the beloved wife of the late William G. Sikora.
Joyce was born in Torrington on March 4, 1938, daughter of the late Charles J. Ostrander and Dorris E. (Wootten) Ostrander, and had been a lifelong city resident. In earlier years, she had been employed at the Torrington Company and Mertz Department Store and was later employed as a cashier in retail stores.
Mrs. Sikora was a communicant of Trinity Episcopal Church, Torrington, and a member of the Slovak Catholic Sokols. She enjoyed reading, knitting, sewing, and crocheting. Joyce loved all animals and was an avid supporter of many organizations that benefit animals.
Survivors include a son, William Sikora and his wife Desaree of Torrington; two daughters, Kim Sikora of Torrington, and Diane Sikora of Morris; four grandchildren, James Covill and his partner Tracy, Jackie Covill and her partner Leif, Kassie Grosjean and her husband Emerson, and Will Sikora and his wife Leesha; nine great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Friday, December 14, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00p.m. at Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, 258 Prospect St., Torrington, with a funeral service to take place at 8:00p.m. Burial in Hillside Cemetery, Torrington, will take place Saturday, December 15, 2018 at 10:00a.m.
