Goshen- Josephine “Josie” M. Czapor, 103, passed away Wednesday, April 3, 2019 at Litchfield Woods Healthcare Center, Torrington. She was the wife of the late Daniel M. Czapor.
Mrs. Czapor was born in Pittsburgh, PA on March 18, 1916, and had been a Torrington-Goshen resident most of her life. In Josie’s younger years, she was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Torrington, and later a communicant of St. Thomas of Villanova Church in Goshen. She was employed as a housekeeper and cook for many years with the Archdiocese of Hartford. Josie enjoyed gardening, sewing, cooking, and singing with the “Belles & Beaux”. She was very patriotic and proud to be an American. Josie enjoyed wintering in Florida and was a collector of recipes and advice columns from newspapers, which she enjoyed sharing with family.
Her family would like to express their thanks to the nurses and staff at Litchfield Woods, as well Gina from Hospice, for the wonderful care shown to Josie during her final days.
Survivors include a son, Daniel Czapor and his wife Judy of Goshen; a daughter-in-law, Marcia Czapor of Torrington; six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Czapor was predeceased by a son, John Czapor.
Services and burial will be private. Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, 258 Prospect St., Torrington, is in care of arrangements.
