John W. Fitzgerald, Jr.

Torrington- John W. Fitzgerald, Jr., 67, passed away Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at Hartford Hospital.

          John was born in Torrington on August 19, 1951, son of the late John W. Fitzgerald, Sr., and Ann (Wartonick) Fitzgerald, and had been a lifelong city resident. He was a lifelong communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church, and was a graduate of St. Francis School and Torrington High School. John was a talented auto mechanic and enjoyed tinkering, woodworking, and whittling. He also enjoyed music and cars.

          Survivors include a son, John R. Fitzgerald of Miami, FL, a sister, Christine V. Fitzgerald of Torrington; a niece, Melanie Fitzgerald Martin and her husband Edward of Lewis Center, OH; a nephew, Jeffrey M. Fitzgerald of Torrington; and a grandniece. He was predeceased by a brother, Robert J. Fitzgerald.

          A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at 10:30a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 160 Main St., Torrington. Burial will follow in New St. Francis Cemetery, Torrington. Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, 258 Prospect St., Torrington, is in care of arrangements.
