James E. Rebman

Torrington- James E. Rebman, 96, passed away Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at Brookdale Assisted Living, Torrington. He was the beloved husband of the late Evelyn Khoury.

        Mr. Rebman was born in Torrington on November 19, 1921, son of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Serkey) Rebman. He was a WWII U.S. Army Air Corps Veteran. Mr. Rebman was a retired researcher for high energy physics at the Brookhaven National Laboratory, retiring in 1986 with 38 years of service. He enjoyed basketball and woodworking, and built Shaker and early American furniture, and had been a proud member of the Redmen Lodge.

        Mr. Rebman is survived by a daughter, Maralyn “Minx” McCloud and her husband James of Middlesex, NJ; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

        A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, November 27, 2017 at 10:30a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 160 Main St., Torrington. Burial will follow in New St. Francis Cemetery, Torrington.

        At the request of the family, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Betty Smith Hospice Fund, c/o Foothills VNA, 32 Union St., Winsted, CT 06098.
