Torrington- Gerald E. Fields, Sr., 71, passed away Saturday, February 2, 2019 at the Bridgeport Hospital Burn Unit, with his loving family at his side. He was the beloved husband of Marcie (Lucia) Fields.
Mr. Fields was born in Winsted on June 15, 1947, son of the late Albert Fields, Sr., and Doris (Griffin) Fields, and had been a Torrington area resident most of his life. He was a U.S. Air Force Vietnam Veteran, and a retired employee with the City of Torrington Street Department, retiring with 36 years of service. Mr. Fields was a well known drummer and musician, playing with the bands, The Bojangles, Apricot Brandy, and The Vagabonds Marching Band. Gerald also volunteered his musical talents for the Annual St. Jude’s Telethon. He was a very friendly, outgoing person, who enjoyed helping others. Gerald will be remembered by his family as a proud and loving husband, father, and grandfather.
Survivors, in addition to his wife Marcie, include four daughters, Rosaline Moore of Naugatuck, Cristal Fields, April Fields, and Katrina Carotenuti, all of Torrington; eight grandchildren, Brian Moore, Jr., Tory Hammonds, Jr., Isaiah Hammonds, Aliyah Hammonds, Aleesa Carpenter, Tatiana Rivera, Kaden Carptenter, and Tyree Carotenuti; five brothers, Michael Fields, Daryl Kennebrew, Albert Fields, Jr., Alvin Fields, and Shannon Kennebrew; two sisters, Dorothy Greene and Debra Jones; and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Fields was predeceased by a son, Gerald E. Fields, Jr., and a sister, Virginia Jackson.
Friends may call Thursday, February 7, 2019 from 5:00 to 7:00p.m. at Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, 258 Prospect St., Torrington. Graveside services with full Military Honors will be held Friday, February 8, 2019 at 1:00p.m. at Hillside Cemetery, 76 Walnut St., Torrington.
