Torrington- George O. Rolfe, Jr., 77, passed away Thursday, April 26, 2018 at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital, Torrington. He was the beloved husband of 53 years of Mary (Gallagher) Rolfe.
Mr. Rolfe was born in New London on February 4, 1941, son of the late George O. Rolfe, Sr., and Norma L. (Reeves) Rolfe, and had been a Torrington resident for many years. George was an active member of Trinity Episcopal Church, and had served as a Eucharistic Visitor, church treasurer, and member of the choir. He also served as a board member of the Torrington Symphony Orchestra, a past President and past treasurer of the Litchfield County Choral Union and treasurer of the Connecticut Yankee Chorale. George was a member of the Torrington Lodge of Elks and had been active with Boy Scouting attaining the rank of Eagle Scout in addition to being a recipient of the God and Country Award.
George was a graduate of the University of Connecticut and pursued a career in finance and auditing which included working internationally for United Technologies and with The Hartford in addition to working as a financial advisor.
Survivors, in addition to his wife Mary, include a son, John J. Rolfe of Thomaston; a daughter, Katherine E. “Libby” Solon and her husband, Michael, of Alexandria, VA; and two grandchildren, Jack Solon and Bridget Solon
Services will be held Saturday, May 5, 2018 at 10:00a.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church, 220 Prospect St., Torrington. Burial will follow in Trinity Episcopal Church Memorial Garden. Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, 258 Prospect St., Torrington, is in care of arrangements.
