Dennis H. O'Neil

Winsted- Dennis H. O’Neil, 82, passed away Saturday, May 5, 2018 at his home. He was the beloved husband of the late Florence (Hachey) O’Neil.

          Dennis was born in Winsted on October 5, 1935, son of the late Francis and Helen (Murdick) O’Neil. He had been a Winsted resident for most of his life and had resided in Vero Beach, FL for the past four years. Dennis was a U.S. Army Veteran, and a lifelong communicant of St. Joseph’s Church. He was a retired self-employed contractor and had been a part-time employee at the Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, Torrington. Dennis was a member of the Winchester Volunteer Fire Department and was a former member of the Winsted Fire Department Engine 3.

          Survivors include two daughters, Christine Martin and her husband John of Calpepper, VA, and Erin Ransford and her husband Scott of Barkhamsted; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

          A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, May 14, 2018 at 10:30a.m. at St. Joseph Church, Winsted. Burial will follow in Forest View Cemetery, Winsted. Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, 258 Prospect St., Torrington, is in care of arrangements.
