Norfolk- Charles J. Marchand, 80, passed away Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital, Torrington. He was the beloved husband of Anna (Polzen) Marchand.
Charles was born in Winchester on February 10, 1938, son of the late Donald and Mae (Tichenor) Marchand, and had been a lifelong area resident. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran and was a retired equipment operator, working in the construction field. Charles was a member of the National Rifle Association, and enjoyed working with John Deere tractors and other large equipment. He enjoyed tinkering, welding, and restoring tractors. His wife, “Annie”, was the love of his wife.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, Anna, include two sons, Christopher Marchand and his wife Jodi of New London, and Kim Marchand and his fiancée Jeanne Corey of Winsted; a daughter, Kathy Whitney and her husband Steve of Colebrook; a granddaughter, Kayla Marchand; two sisters, Patricia Andrews and her husband Bert of Barkhamsted, and Virginia Miller of Norfolk; and a niece, Dawn Marchand of Boynton Beach, FL. Charles was predeceased by two brothers, Harold Marchand and John Marchand, and a sister, Evelyn Marchand.
Services will be private. Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, 258 Prospect St., Torrington, is in care of arrangements.
