Barbara "Bobbie" (Halvorsen) Miller

Goshen- Barbara Halvorsen Miller, 92, better known as “Bobbie” or “Grammie” to most, passed away peacefully from Alzheimer’s on Friday, October 13, 2017 in her home with her loving family at her side.  She was the beloved wife of John M. Miller and previously the late Robert R. Clark.

        Bobbie was born in Perth Amboy, NJ, on May 22, 1925, daughter of the late Arthur and Roslyn (Ciani) Halvorsen, and had been a Goshen resident since 1990 when she retired from being the Admitting Director at Greenwich Hospital after 25 years of service.  She was a member of the National Hospital Admitting Managers Assn., an honorary member of the Connecticut Hospital Admitting Assn., and had served as past President.  She belonged to the Goshen Writers, Connecticut Authors Assn. & Goshen Garden Club where she was active with the Horticultural Therapy Program.  Mrs. Miller had also been a member of the Interfaith Council of Northwest CT and enjoyed writing.

        Survivors, in addition to her husband John, include daughter & son-in-law, Debbi & Richard Benoit of Port Saint Lucie, FL and Goshen, daughter Amy McEnaney of Venice, FL; sisters Sylvia Taylor & Elspeth Vevers, brother Bjorn Halvorsen, grandchildren John Benoit, Stephanie Oliver, Ryan McEnaney, Kevin McEnaney & Timothy McEnaney; twelve great-grandchildren; nieces & nephews. She was predeceased by siblings, Margaret H. Pon, Hildur H. Kehoe, and Robin Halvorsen.

        A brief burial service will be held in the Goshen Center Cemetery on November 4th at 11 a.m. with a full memorial service to be held Wednesday, December 27, at 5:00 p.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church, 220 Prospect St., Torrington.  Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, 258 Prospect St., Torrington, is in care of arrangements.
