Torrington- Antonia F. Koplar, 89, passed away Monday, September 3, 2018 at her home. She was the beloved wife of the late Andrew F. Koplar.
Mrs. Koplar was born in Torrington on August 26, 1929, daughter of the late Joseph and Joanna (Strawinski) Killiany and had been a lifelong city resident. She was a retired employee with the State of Connecticut, retiring with 30 years of service. Antonia was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church for most of her life. She was a member of the Polish National Alliance, CSCA Union, and enjoyed crocheting. Antonia loved taking care of her family, especially her grandkids and great-grandson.
Survivors include three sons, David G. Koplar, and Paul F. Koplar, both of Torrington, and Gary M. Koplar of Winsted; two sisters, Joanna Arnista and Anna Koplar, both of Torrington; two grandchildren, Crystal A. Koplar of Goshen and Cody S. Koplar of Torrington; a great-grandson, William P. Koplar of Goshen; a special daughter-in-law, Sharon Weingart of Torrington; and several nieces and nephews.
Antonia’s family would like to express their sincere thanks to Polish Helping Hands as well as the VNS of Connecticut, for the wonderful care shown to Antonia during her final days.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 6, 2018 at 9:30a.m. from Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, 258 Prospect St., Torrington, to St. Francis of Assisi Church, 160 Main St., Torrington, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30a.m. Burial will follow in New St. Francis Cemetery, Torrington. Friends may call Wednesday, September 5, 2018 from 5:00 to 7:00p.m. at Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home.
At the request of the family, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
