Louis Capra, Sr. Obituary

Louis Capra, Sr., 94, passed away peacefully at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital on February 20, 2024, after a brief illness.

Lou was born in Torrington on February 16, 1930, to Anthony and Rose (Silano) Capra. He served in the Army National Guard and was honorably discharged. Lou was employed by Turner & Seymour Mfg., retiring after 46 years of service. He was a deeply religious man attending church and watching the daily televised mass. In his younger years, Lou was an avid hunter. He enjoyed traveling, cooking, and baking. Lou was a fun-loving practical joker with a wonderful sense of humor. He enjoyed sitting outside, listening to polka music, and visiting with his neighbors while just watching the world go by. He would always say, "there are times in life when we all need to just sit and watch the world go by."

He is survived by his son, Louis Capra, Jr., his daughter Jayne, and son-in-law Leo Martigneni, along with his Grand cat "Beanie" and Grand dogs "Tucker" and "Roxy". He also leaves his Sister-in-law, Florence Simons and Brother-in-law, Keith Brewer along with many Nieces, Nephews, four Godchildren, Cousins, and may wonderful friends and neighbors.
Lou was pre-deceased by his first wife Janet (Remecki) Ziggiotto, his second wife Dolores (Bannon) Capra, daughter-in-law, Cynthia (Winzler) Capra, Fiancé Charlotte Hebert, and his siblings and In-laws: Michael Capra, Christine (Chester) Root, Julia (Edwin) Becker and Anthony (Marilyn) Capra. He was also pre-deceased by Joseph ‘DooDoo’ Avallone, and John Remecki, his brothers-in-law and two of his best friends.

The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and all staff in the emergency room and on the 4th floor at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital, Litchfield Woods staff and nurses especially the Wintergreen Unit, and Hartford Healthcare Hospice for their exceptional care and compassion throughout his illness.
