Catherine B. (Pennington) Gawrych

Torrington- Catherine B. Gawrych, 95, passed away Sunday, March 3, 2024, at Litchfield Woods Health Care Center, Torrington. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph A. Gawrych.

        Mrs. Gawrych was born in Torrington on April 23, 1928, daughter of the late Frank and Mary “Molly” (Higgins) Pennington, and had been a lifelong city resident. She was a lifelong communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church, Torrington. Mrs. Gawrych enjoyed shopping and most of all, taking care of her children.

        Survivors include two sons, Gary J. Gawrych and his wife, Andrea, and Joseph A. Gawrych and his wife, Robin, all of Torrington; a daughter, Deborah A. Hogan and her husband, Raymond, of Davenport, FL; three grandchildren, Danielle Hogan, Justin Gawrych, and Jennifer Murphy and her husband, Andrew; and a great-grandson, Slade Applewhite. Mrs. Gawrych was predeceased by a granddaughter, Christine Applewhite; and two sisters, Peggy Waldron and Mary Beauchaine.

        The family would like to express their sincere thanks to Kristy Casciani, for the loving care and time spent with Mom.

        Services and burial in St. Peter Cemetery, Torrington, will be private. Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, Torrington, is in care of arrangements.
