Virginia B. (Bertrand) ClintonOctober 2, 1912 ~ May 5, 2017 (age 104)
Torrington- Virginia B. Clinton, 104, died Friday, May 5, 2017 in her home.
Mrs. Clinton was born in Harwinton on October 2, 1912, daughter of the late Ferdinand and Louise (Mougenot) Bertrand and had been a lifelong area resident. Virginia was a retired Press Operator with the Torrington Company, working at the Standard Plant, retiring with 32 years of service. She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church and had been a choir member and Sunday School teacher for over 30 years. Mrs. Clinton was a member of the North End Community Association, Torrington Trippers Square Dance Club, a former member of the Anita Garibaldi Lodge, a past president of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary and been a volunteer at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. She enjoyed bowling, and had been a member of the Torrington Company Bowling League.
Survivors include two sons, Dennis Clinton and his wife Linda of Bristol, and Gary Clinton, Sr. and his fiancé Rose Cocozza of Torrington; two daughters, Virginia “Ginny” Clinton of Torrington, and Susan Thibodeau and her husband Lloyd of South Carolina; ten grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Clinton was predeceased by two infant sons.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at 11:00a.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church, 220 Prospect St., Torrington. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Torrington. Friends may call Tuesday, May 9, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00p.m. at Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, 258 Prospect St., Torrington.
