Victoria M. Yurgalewicz

North Attleboro, MA- Victoria Marie Yurgalewicz, 97, died on October 2, 2015 at Madonna Manor Nursing Home in North Attleboro, Massachusetts. She was the beloved wife of the late Walter Joseph Yurgalewicz.

        She was born on October 14, 1917 in Torrington, Connecticut to the late Victoria (Mitnik) Zbuska and William Zbuska, Sr. Victoria (Vicky) was a lifelong communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Torrington, Connecticut. She graduated from Sacred Heart School, a Slovak parochial school, and was baptized and confirmed in Sacred Heart Church.  She attended Torrington High School.

        Victoria was a kind, loving, generous and wonderful mother and wife with strong Catholic faith and work ethic.  She was a steadfast woman who lived her life with quiet dignity.  She left Torrington High School to help support her mother and younger siblings when their father was absent from the home.  Helen and Bill graduated from Torrington High School and Helen graduated from St Francis School of Nursing in Hartford, Connecticut.  Bill pursued a career in the U.S. Air Force.  Mom was an “A” student who had dreams of becoming a teacher or accountant.

        Mom was employed as a Quality Control Inspector at The Torrington Company Needle Division in Torrington, Connecticut for 12 years. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Altar Society, Catholic Sokol and Jednota Society and the Sullivan Senior Center.  She was a regular volunteer at Sacred Heart School where her children attended.  She was a selfless homemaker and caregiver for her family andhusband Walter in their home for several years before his death.  She brought ice cream dessert daily to her mother Victoria for many years while she resided in a skilled nursing facility in Torrington, Connecticut.  She enjoyed visits to the Sullivan Senior Center and joining trips sponsored by it with friends.  Mom thoroughly enjoyed traveling internationally with daughter Jean who has worked for Pan American World Airways and Delta Airlines for more than 40 years. Mom was an avid reader with a particular interest in health and nutrition, financial investmentsand estate planning.

        Mom lived a long and full life deedicated to her family and many around her.  She placed her own dreams and aspirations as secondary.  She was greatly loved and will be dearly missed by her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and all who knew her.

        Survivors include a younger sister Helen Zbuska O’Reilly Croop who resides in Saratoga Springs, New York.  She is also survived by her children Jean Ann Yurgalewicz of Wilson, Wyoming, John Joseph (Judith) Yurgalewicz of Attleboro, Massachusetts and Mark James (Melissa) Young of Littleton, Colorado.  Also, surviving Victoria are granddaughter Laura (Timothy) Marlowe and their son Nolan in Ohio and grandson Robert (Mandy) Yurgalewicz and their children Ryan and Anna, also in Ohio.  They are the children of John and Judith Yurgalewicz.  Mom was especially proud of her role in enabling her children and grandchildren to be college/university graduates. She was predeceased by a younger brother, William “Bill” Zbuska who resided in Harwinton, Connecticut.

        Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 10, 2015 at 10:00a.m. from Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, 258 Prospect St., Torrington to Sacred Heart Church, 116 Grove Street, Torrington, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30a.m. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery, Torrington. Friends may call Saturday morning from 9:00a.m. to 10:00a.m.

        At the family’s request, in lieu of flowers, please send donations in her memory to Sacred Heart Church, 116 Grove Street, Torrington, Connecticut 06790.
