Torrington- Mildred Ruth Twining, 89, passed away Saturday, September 16, 2017 at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital, Torrington. She was the beloved wife of 62 years of Eugene W. Twining.
Mrs. Twining was born in Waterbury on August 22, 1928, daughter of the late Wilhelm and Clara (Grunder) Neddermann, and had been a Torrington resident for the past 62 years. She was a graduate of Thomaston High School and St. Mary’s Hospital School of Nursing, Waterbury. Mildred was a retired Registered Nurse, working at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital, Waterbury Hospital, and Highland Acres Nursing Facility, Winsted. Mrs. Twining was a member of the United Congregational Church, Torrington, a member of the Bible study group, and had a deep love for her savior, Jesus Christ. She was a member of the YMCA and enjoyed swimming, traveling, sports, the outdoors, playing scrabble, and solitaire.
The family would like to thank all the staff at Foothills VNA and Charlotte Hungerford Hospital, who helped care for Mildred.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include a son, Gene W. Twining and his wife Lina of FL; five daughters, Diane H. Twining of DE, Carol L. Dauphinais and her husband Larry, Linda A. Twining, Sharon C. Roche and her husband Joseph, and Nancy M. Twining, all of Torrington; a brother, Raymond Neddermann of Thomaston; two sisters, Clara Piotrowski of Thomaston, and Martha Kawiecki of Bristol; five grandchildren, Delfin Rodriguez, Lidia Rodriguez, Sharon Rodriguez, Michael Diesi, and Ethan Dauphinais; three great-grandchildren, Riley Steiger, Mason Steiger, and Olivia Rodriguez; and many nieces and nephews. Mildred was predeceased by brothers, William, Arthur, and Charles Neddermann, and sisters, Doris Budney and Alice Thurlow.
Services will be held Friday, September 22, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at United Congregational Church, 1622 Torringford St., Torrington. Burial will be private.
