Mathew J. Mohlenhoff

Torrington- Mathew J. Mohlenhoff, 23, died Friday, September 11, 2015, at Gaylord Hospital, Wallingford.

Mathew was born in New Milford on June 11, 1992, son of Peter D. and Dana L. (Szinyei) Mohlenhoff, and had been a lifelong Torrington resident. He was a graduate of Wamogo Regional High School, Class of 2010, where he played football. Mathew was a graduate of Delaware Valley College, Class of 2014, receiving his B.S. in large animal science, and was pursuing a B.S. in chemistry at UConn. At Delaware Valley College, he was a member of Alpha Gamma Rho, active in student government, and had served on the advisory committee to the Dean of Agriculture. Mathew was a member of three national honor societies, was an avid computer video game player, enjoyed experimenting in the kitchen, loved animals, and often pet sat for family and friends. He was thrilled when Yuengling beer became available in Connecticut.

Survivors, in addition to his parents, include a brother, Daniel H. Mohlenhoff of Douglassville, PA, his paternal grandparents, Herbert and Ruth (Weideman) Mohlenhoff of Long Boat Key, FL, his maternal grandparents, Daniel and Alice (Eleck) Szinyei of Torrington, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, September 13, 2015 at 3:00p.m. at Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, 258 Prospect St., Torrington. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. Friends may call Sunday from 2:00p.m. to 3:00p.m. at Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home.
