Lillian C. (Zlata) Yakubowski

Torrington- Lillian C. Yakubowski, 96, died Thursday, September 17, 2015, in her home. She was the beloved wife of the late Anton A. Yakubowski.

Mrs. Yakubowski was born in New York City, NY, on August 28, 1919, daughter of the late Anton and Antoinette (Schovanek) Zlata, and had been an area resident for many years. Lillian was a retired factory employee of Aerospace, retiring with 20 years of service. She was a member of the Sullivan Senior Center, enjoyed knitting, baking, walking, and especially her friends at Koury Terrace.

Survivors include two sons, Thomas Gregory and his wife Patricia of Smyrna, GA, and David Young and his wife Shelly of Greer, SC, a sister, Frances Zlata of Salisbury, a son-in-law, James Reilly of Torrington, three grandchildren, Jennifer Ives-Groebl and her husband Joseph, of Torrington, Shannon Patterson and her husband Scott , and Marc Young and his wife Taylor ,all of Greer, SC, five great-grandchildren, Mattheu and Jacob Groebl, and Emily, Anna, and Alexis Patterson, and many nieces and nephews. Lillian was predeceased by her daughter, Joyce Reilly.

Funeral services and burial in Hillside Cemetery will be private. Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, 258 Prospect St., Torrington, is in care of arrangements.
