Torrington- James M. Eichner, Sr., 69, died Thursday, April 28, 2016 at Torrington Health and Rehabilitation Center, Torrington. He was the beloved husband of Jeanne (Little)Eichner.

        Mr. Eichner was born in Torrington on March 25, 1947, son of the late Philip and Helen (Meyer) Eichner. He was a retired Quality Assurance Manager at Proctor & Gamble, retiring with 33 years of service. Jim was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church Torrington. He was a member of the St. Francis School graduating class of 1961 and Torrington High School class of 1965. Jim went on to earn a BA from Marist College in 1969 and MS from the University of Pacific, Stockton, CA in 1973. He served on theThomaston Sewer Commission, was active  member in the Knights of Columbus and had served as a  past Grand Knight. Jim volunteered at the Torrington Health and Rehab (Haven Health) and loved being an usher at The Warner Theater and Back Stage. He enjoyed helping at the Community soup kitchen, loved his garden, tractor and smoking a pipe.

        Survivors, in addition to his wife Jeanne, include two sons, James M. Eichner, Jr. and his wife Marlana of Norfolk, VA, and Nicholas J. Eichner and his wife Theresa of Muellheim, Germany, one brother, John Eichner and his wife Jean of Torrington, two grandsons, Nathaniel J. Eichner and William M. Eichner, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.  Mr.Eichner was predeceased by two brothers, Robert Eichner and William Eichner.

        Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at 9:30a.m. from Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, 258 Prospect St., Torrington, to St. Francis of Assisi Church, 160 Main St.,Torrington, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30a.m. Burial in Hillside Cemetery, Thomaston, will be private. Friends may call Tuesday, May 3, 2016 from 6:00 to 8:00p.m. at Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home.

        The family would like to thank all the staff of Torrington Health Center for all their loving and compassionate care. Thank you also to Vitas Hospice and the spiritual support from Fr. John and the traditional choir.
