Barbara A. (Amoroso) Cardella

Torrington- Barbara A. Cardella, 78, passed away Wednesday, January 3, 2018 in her home. She was the beloved wife of Anthony T. “Tony” Cardella.

          Barbara was born in Torrington on December 27, 1939, daughter of the late Angelo and Mary (Skarupa) Amoroso, and had been a lifelong city resident. She was a retired medical secretary with the Litchfield Hills Orthopedic Associates, retiring with over 25 years of service. Barbara was a lifelong communicant of Sacred Heart Church, and graduated from the former Sacred Heart School. She was a member of the Slovak Catholic Sokols, the Harwinton and Sullivan Senior Centers. Barbara had volunteered at Christmas Village, and at the Warner Theater.

          Survivors in addition to her husband, Tony, include two daughters, Mary Angela Cardella and her partner Jeffrey Davis of Torrington, and Andrea L. Bowman and her husband Keith of Winter Garden, FL; a brother, Thomas F. Amoroso of Winsted; two grandchildren, Griffin J. Bowman and Lilyanna R. Bowman, both of Winter Garden, FL; three nieces, and a nephew.

          Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at 11:00a.m. at Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, 258 Prospect St., Torrington. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery, Torrington. Friends may call Tuesday morning from 9:00 to 11:00a.m. at Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home.

          At the request of the family, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
