Anna (Wartonick) Fitzgerald

Torrington- Anna (Wartonick) Fitzgerald, 96, died Saturday, May 21, 2016 at Torrington Health and Rehabilitation, Torrington. She was the beloved wife of the late John W. Fitzgerald, Sr.

        Mrs. Fitzgerald was born in Simpson, PA, on December 21, 1919, daughter of the late Peter and Anna (Parlyovich) Wartonick. Anna was a retired watch maker with the Timex Company and had also been employed by the Torrington Company, Kimbrex, and Charter Oak. She was an active communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church, volunteered with the St. Francis Rosary Club and also the St. Francis Mothers Club.

        Survivors include a son, John W. Fitzgerald, Jr. of Torrington, a daughter, Christine Fitzgerald of Torrington, a brother, John Wartonick of Bristol, three grandchildren, Jeffrey M. Fitzgerald of Torrington, Melanie Fitzgerald Martin and her husband, Edward Martin of Dublin, OH, and John R. Fitzgerald of Mountainview, CA, and one great-granddaughter. Mrs. Fitzgerald was predeceased by a son, Robert J. Fitzgerald, a brother, William Wartonick, and a sister, Mary Wartonick.

        A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at 10:30a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 160 Main St., Torrington. Burial will follow in New St. Francis Cemetery, Torrington.
