Albert Vasko

Torrington- Albert Vasko, loving husband of Cynthia(Arnold) Vasko died peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on July 23, 2017.

        Born in Torrington, CT on November 1, 1930, son of the late George and Anna Vasko.  He was a graduate of Sacred Heart School and Torrington High School.  He was a Korean War veteran serving in the Air Force.  He was the founder and owner of Service Plumbing and Heating Co, Inc. until his retirement.  He was a lifelong communicant of Sacred Heart Church.

        His greatest pleasures were spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren at Sunday lunch and especially family trips to Disney World.  He also enjoyed traveling, particularly to Las Vegas, gardening and listening to music.

        In addition to his wife of 64 years, he is survived by his children, Lynn Valsecchi (Rick), Albert G. Vasko and his friend Nancy, Diane Libby (Mark), Karen Andrews (Nils), all of Torrington, and his grandchildren, his greatest joys, Dawn, Erick, Kathleen, Stephanie, Sarah and Ryan. He is also survived by his sisters Monica Eschenbrenner and Theresa Dupont (Jerry). He was predeceased by his sisters Margaret, Mary and Ann.

        Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at 10:00a.m. from Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, 258 Prospect St., Torrington, to Sacred Heart Church, 116 Grove St., Torrington, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00a.m. Burial with full military honors will follow in New St. Francis Cemetery, Torrington. Friends may call Tuesday, July 25, 2017 from 5:00 to 7:00p.m. at Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home.

        At the request of the family, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Albert to Charlotte Hungerford Hospital, 540 Litchfield St., Torrington, CT 06790 or the Smilow Cancer Hospital Care Center, 200 Kennedy Drive, Torrington, CT 06790.
